It’s Holy Week! For some the week will pass unnoticed, just like any other week. For some, there will be great preparation for Easter dinners and coloring Easter eggs and finding just the right shoes for church. For some, it will indeed be the holiest week of the year, the one week where hearts and minds are tuned in to the work of salvation and the gift of a loving Savior. It’s the week that makes everything else in life possible whether or not we understand that truth.
As I look out at the world, I wonder at how we’ve made so many impossible advances in technology and medicine and communication and social media, and yet, are not much further along than the people who wandered aimlessly in Jesus’ day, totally blind to what was in front of them. Whatever our faith base may be, we acknowledge that the world needs more light. It needs to recognize that it does not exist on its own and that every person who inhabits the planet has a Creator and is known in a very personal way. That’s what reminds us that this is the season of the possible. This is the week when we have a chance to burst forth like the spring flowers and reach out toward the Son, seeking guidance for our hopes and dreams. If only we would do so!
Pope John XXIII said, “Consult not your fears, but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”
Today, let’s all stop and remind ourselves that we are God’s children, blessed with infinite possibility. We can step up right this minute, reach out for His hand, and know that somehow we’re changed, we’re supercharged to be different, to be more holy…and to be more wholly His.
Look for all that is possible today! Don’t look back at yesterday and wonder where it went or what went wrong. Take today and make it holy. Take today and seek God’s blessing on your work, on your life, on your finances, on your health, and most of all on your heart. Let your heart be totally focused and shaped with love. Love, especially God’s love, is what makes everything about you a gift of infinite possibility.
Whew! I don’t know about you, but I needed to hear that today! Blessings to you all!
