In The Never-Ending Story, a fantasy civilization is being destroyed by “The Nothing.” The Nothing slowly works to deprive every living thing of imagination, thinking, or even reading a good book. The nothing creeps in like a thick, dark cloud to keep people believing more in the “Nothing” than in the “something” they still have. The tale reminds me of the general malaise that seems to be engulfing our lives, causing more people than ever to be fearful and depressed. The “Nothing” is something that makes everything feel lost.
But here’s the good news, nothing can defeat a believer, because you already know Who wins, and you have built a solid foundation. You know “all things are possible with God,” and that’s something! That something is so big, so powerful, so inspiring that it wins out over the lethargic, the unimaginative, the woe-is-me, all-is-lost mentality. Something can be done, and all you have to do is remember that nothing can get in the way of what you were designed to do. Oh, sure, you can get delayed. You may have to move some obstacles. You may even have to create a new path, but that’s okay because your work, your calling, your opportunity is still before you.
1 Corinthians 15 says, “Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” Personally, I think that’s something! I think that whatever craziness the world wants to hand out, whatever downside it wants to present, there’s an even stronger upside. Your belief in possibility because God makes all things possible, gives you every reason to keep thinking, putting your imagination to work, and reading everything you can get your hands on to help you keep moving. You are equipped for something and it’s something big, you just have to remember Who you are and keep going.
Today, let nothing stop you from believing that with God all things, and I mean everything, things you haven’t even imagined yet, are possible. I just want to remind you that you are something and nothing can change my mind about that, so get out from under that cloud and let your light shine!
