British theologian and preacher F.B.Meyer said, “We never test the resources of God until we attempt the impossible!”

Most of us are familiar with the idea of risk and reward. We imagine if we invest in something that isn’t absolutely certain, but seems like a good bet, we’ll get a grand payoff. After all, if we don’t take a few well-calculated chances, we might never move forward. That’s great, but that isn’t quite the same thing as stepping out in faith to do something that feels risky because you alone can’t affect the outcome. How many of us are willing to take a risk like that?

If all the resources of the Godhead our available to us, why aren’t we doing bigger, better and braver things?  After all, if you don’t plug in your lamp, no matter how close you are to the outlet, you won’t have the power to see the light. You have to connect to the source for the power to come through. It’s the same way with God. You can walk around Him, make your plans, take the risk all on your own, and then wonder why things didn’t work out. Attempting the impossible means you have to tap into the one source in the universe who makes impossible things happen. You have to plug into the Light of the world.

It’s time to challenge ourselves to try new things that we know we cannot accomplish on our own. We have to be courageous, put our hopes and dreams in God’s hand and then watch what He does. You don’t have to be brilliant. You don’t have to be the perfect age, the perfect person, or the one who never made mistakes for God to help you. You just have to be willing to try big things, even bigger things than you’ve ever tried before. Then you have to line it up with the resources of God and watch what happens. Sometimes God just says, “Follow me,” and I will help you get where you want to go. So, just once, give it a try. Don’t look back, don’t look around, just look up and let God help you do impossible things. The world needs you to step out in faith.

Lord, help us never be satisfied with being ordinary, when You have extraordinary things for us to do. Attempt the impossible!
