And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

F.B. Meyer, British theologian and Baptist preacher wrote, “We never test the resources of God until we attempt the impossible.”
If you were to do a quick survey of your life, how many times would you note that you “attempted the impossible?”
Perhaps you took a few calculated chances or did some things that were a bit risky, but did you move forward knowing that without God’s help, you would fail?
Stepping out in faith is not always the clearest option. It can appear to be totally foolish, especially to those around you. It can keep you questioning whether you’re hearing God correctly. Stepping out in faith was never designed to be easy.
So, let’s look at what happened when Peter got out of the boat and attempted to walk on the water. He looked at Jesus, was convinced he could do it because Jesus invited him to come, but then he looked away from Jesus, did a reality check with his wet feet and he started to sink. He took the eyes of faith off the guy who could help him achieve his goal and put them back on what was happening around him. He sank into the impossible just when he was making a breakthrough. Jesus was still there for him though and pulled him up to try again another day.
No doubt, He’s been doing that with most of us our entire lives. My thought is for us to truly consider what it would take for us to get out of the comfort zone we live in and try something we truly believe we are meant to do, but keep putting off. What would it take to stop telling ourselves we can’t do it because we’re too old, or it’s too late, or we failed the last time we tried? There’s a reason it’s called stepping out in faith.
You know it has never served you or God very well for you to simply do the small things, those you can do easily. Why? Because you serve the God of the possible, the One who knows everything about you. So what will it take for you to step aside from your own sense of limitations and connect to the One who can literally help you do anything? Like Peter, when you are beckoned by the voice of God to step out of the boat, will you? God will never direct you to do something you cannot do when you trust He is with you.
If you attempt certain things in your humanness, you will fail miserably. To achieve impossible things God has to intervene. Only God can help you stand firm when your knees are shaky. Of course, you can always just stay in the boat.
