Being in the Know

Published on October 22, 2026

Most of us enjoy being on the inside track, becoming part of the inner circle. We appreciate it when we have the kind of information that carries more weight than mere opinion. Otherwise, we can only make a best guess, and hope we know enough to move forward in confidence. The fact is that God is actually the only One who is “In the Know!” He alone knows everything because He holds the big picture and He cannot be deceived. This may be why He so often nudges us to spend more time with Him, get to know Him in ways we never have before, and discover truth that escaped our awareness earlier in our lives.

Being in the know with God is vastly different than simply being smart enough to understand things, or having some insight into a problem. Being in the know in God’s terms is a matter of the heart. Perhaps we miss out on getting to know more of what God wants because we aren’t sure what to ask. Often, I pray for wisdom, asking God to help me understand something that feels difficult, or to open my eyes to see something I missed before. I want to do the right thing, or walk the right path, or simply not get in the way of something important. I want wisdom to help me know what God knows about whatever it is that clouds my vision.

Chances are good, God will open my eyes a bit wider, and give me another piece of the mosaic that has been formed around the issues I’m considering. He might offer insight or some bit of knowledge that gives me more peace. As much as I appreciate things becoming clearer, I recognize that there’s always more to it. There’s always more to know, more insight, and more prayer needed.

I confess that I want to be on the inner circle. I want to draw near to God in ways that open the eyes of my heart to see Him more clearly. I want to get past the prevailing darkness and stand in the light so I don’t have to stumble around any more. Those are good things to want and the only thing I know for sure is that it can only happen one way. It’s God’s way! I have to know that I don’t know enough about Him. I have to recognize that I wander around on my own far too often. I have to be willing to admit that I am simply not in the know!

God never hesitates to give us wisdom and guidance. He never steps away from our cares and concerns. He knows what we need and He knows we need Him!

You’re already in His inner circle.
