And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

            Hebrews 11:6, NIV

Martin Luther said, “Faith is a living, busy, powerful thing; it is impossible for it not to do us good continually.”  It seems to me then, if faith is going to do us good continually, then we have to be invested in it. We have to be busy doing the things that keep it strong and make it a priority in our lives. If we have a living faith, it is indeed powerful.

So, how do we invest in it and come to live by our faith?

Faith means we believe God is real. It doesn’t mean we don’t ever question Him, or have a passing doubt, but it means we trust He walks with us in the here and now. It means we understand He helps us, nurtures us, and provides for our well-being.  For faith to do us good we have to listen when God is talking and working to shape our hearts and minds. Once we’ve come to believe in the reality of God, the living Creator, then everything else falls into place. Faith, belief, the Gospels, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are cornerstones of a faith that matters. They are the breath of life for believers. If faith matters to us, we let it carry us forward, resting in it when we’re troubled, and growing in it when we are inspired.

Your faith matters because it is the way you communicate with Your Creator. It’s how you acknowledge His existence and It’s how He acknowledges yours. It is the foundational building block and everything else depends on it. God has blessed you in unique ways so you can do good things. Your faith gives you a chance to turn the light on, to embrace the possible, and to seek God’s divine direction. Your goal, or perhaps your opportunity is to have a living faith, a faith that matters, that brings hope and love to those around you.

Does your faith matter? Be grateful for the gift of your faith, the thing that allows you to live abundantly, and light the way for others. Embrace the One who sees you and makes His face shine upon you. Your faith is the guidance system for how you live and move and have your being.  Put your whole heart into it because your faith matters!
