Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works.”

Most of us don’t walk around imagining how amazing we are. We seldom contemplate the incredible mystery of how we were formed in the womb. Perhaps we even assume our birth had no significance at all. Obviously, King David knew God as the Creator, the One who caused human beings to be born in His image. God placed us into families to be loved and nurtured. Psalm 139 reminds you that you were known even before you were born. God put His stamp of love on you right from the beginning. Imagine that!

The world seldom offers you high praise. Few people tell you how awesome or uniquely gifted you are. Nature and nurture played a part in your story, but God knew you from the beginning, before you were ever a gleam in your mother’s eyes. You are not a mistake or an afterthought or an orphan. You are a gift, and you have worth and value beyond measure. You were designed for a significant purpose which makes you far more valuable than your accomplishments, or your circumstances. The psalmist describes the way your heart and mind and soul were knit together. No one else will ever be quite like you. You were God’s idea right from the start and He walks before you everywhere you go, because your life matters to Him.

If you’re like most of us, you see your warts, more than your beauty. You see your poor choices, more than your bits of wisdom. You see your weakness instead of your strengths. Fortunately for you, that’s not what God sees. He sees your heart and He beckons you to draw near. In fact, He always wants to be near you so He can encourage you in all you do. He knows all you are meant to be and He applauds every step you take to recognize HIs plans for your good. You’re amazing!

You deserve a round of applause!
