This is an entry from my daily devotional called “Be Blessed.” I hope it resonates with you.
“And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: ‘Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’ And he replied: ‘Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way. (Minnie L. Haskins)
As human beings, we often manage to get ahead of ourselves, or at least to get ahead of God. We act even before we know what direction we should go, or we get stuck in one place for the same reason. Since God goes before us, we miss out because we drag our feet and lag behind. Perhaps this year we should make a conscious choice about who’s going to lead. We can choose before our feet even hit the floor to look before we leap as the saying goes. We can look up, thank God for the day and walk into the day guided and guarded.
Of course, you can always move along on your own and hope for the best. God will still be there for you because He promised you He would be. But why would you? You’ve been invited to put your hand in the hand of the One who is more than willing to lead the way so you can walk in joy and confidence.
Once you get used to approaching your days letting God lead, you’ll never want to go out all alone again. Let God be a light unto your path today.
Be Blessed, dear ones!
